About
This cozy cabin is situated on 20 acres, and overlooks manicured horse pastures and two mountains (White Rock and Jones Knob). You'll have plenty of space to relax and enjoy the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Good to know
The master bedroom has a queen bed with a large closet, shower and bathtub. The second bedroom has a quenn bed and a large closet. There is also a third room with French doors and a queen bed. The second bathroom is situated between the second and third bedroom, and has a bathtub/shower. The front porch extends along the length of the house and has a gas Brookstone griddle, two rocking chairs, a high-top patio table with four chairs, and a two-person swing. You'll be able to grill dinner while looking over a horse farm and White Rock mountain!
Other Details to Note
We provide a Keurig and the first few pods in case you forget to bring some. There is also a gas griddle with utensils and a grill brush; it uses Coleman Propane Fuel Tanks (not provided). Previous guests may have left one with remaining fuel but we recommend bringing 1-2 small tanks if you would like to use it for cooking. A 2-pack of the small tanks can be purchased at Walmart or Target for around $10

Neighborhood
This unique cabin is a great place to stay for some peace and quiet. Take a walk up Tessentee Road, past our cabin, to see a small waterfall and the local wildlife. The Bartram Trail is accessible within minutes of our cabin...you can see the sign on the left side of the road as you drive down Tessentee Road. There are also mountain biking trails, rivers and lakes, and beautiful small towns within minutes! Visit the town of Franklin, North Carolina's website for the latest information, announcements and events happening in and around Franklin. Things to do in the area: Thank you for inquiring about our cabin. We have a Franklin, NC address but the cabin is located approximately 5 miles east of Otto, NC. It sits on 20 acres, mostly wooded and hilly, but there is a large pasture next to the cabin. It also overlooks a 40-acre horse farm across the street and has an amazing view from the front porch! We have tons of trails and waterfalls in the area (long and short hikes), and wineries as well. Here are some recommendations you can look at online: - Mountain Biking: Check out Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. It will be online at WCU Hiking & Mountain Biking Trailhead. A friend of mine is an avid mtn biker and loved the trails. If it looks a little too ‘hard core,’ check out the Little Tennessee River Greenway located in Franklin, NC. Very easy trail but really nice this time of year. There's also the Tsali Trailhead area about an hour north near Fontana Lake. - Hikes/Sites: Bartram Trail, Appalachian Trail, Wayah Bald (great views), and Standing Indian Campground (hiking trails). I would also recommend going to the AllTrails site online or downloading the app on your phone. Once you’re on the app it allows you to see all of the trails in your vicinity. - Wineries: 12 Spies Vineyards (closest), Noble Wine Cellar and Tiger Mountain Vineyards (Clayton, GA approximately 20-30 minutes south of our cabin). - Winter Activities: Highlands Outpost (approximately 30 minutes) has snow tubing and if it's warm enough, try the German-designed alpine sled! The town of Highlands is a beautiful mountain town (approximately 45 minutes) and has an Ice Skating Rink during the winter months. You can take a drive up to Wayah Bald. It's an old historical fire tower and a place where people used to take their wagons and camp on top of the mountain. Once you get there it's a short walk to the overlook and some beautiful views. It's about a 45-minute drive up the mountain but well worth it. Also, you can take a drive up to Highlands, NC that's about a 30-minute drive. There are two ways to get there but take the road from Franklin, NC to Highlands (Hwy 64). There are three waterfalls on the way up; one you can see from the road (Cullasaja Falls), one you can drive under (Bridal Veil Falls), and the other is a short walk from the parking lot (Dry Falls). It's called Dry Falls because you can walk under it. Highlands is a great, small mountain town but with high-dollar stores that cater to a lot of people that come up from Atlanta. You can still find some great deals and a ton of great restaurants. --Cellular Service Notification-- Cellular service in and around the cabin is very weak and sometime non-existent, but we do have Starlink Internet service. Instructions on how to connect to WiFi in order to make & receive calls should be sent to you upon booking. We use it and haven’t had any issues during our stays at the cabin.
